Oquirrh Mountain Temple
About a year ago, I was sitting in my home ward in North Carolina when Bishop Lockhart came up in Relief Society and handed me and beautiful, white handkerchief. Without saying anything I sat there asking myself why would he would be randomly passing them out. On his way out the door he smiled, looked at me and said, "just in case."
Today was my first temple dedication. I went to the first counselor's home to receive my ticket and when he asked me if I had a white handkerchief, I immediately thought of that particular one. As soon as I got home, I looked into my drawer and gave a sigh of relief when I saw it. I was so excited.
The dedication was overwhelming. I was able to go through this temple during the open house so it was extremely special to me. It's the first temple I have had the opportunity to do so in. The spirit couldn't have been stronger and the thoughts they shared couldn't have been more perfect. I lost count of how many times I had chills by the stories the authorities told and by how many times I felt the spirit. How lucky I am to be a worthy member of the church and experience such a remarkable blessing. The temple is the most comforting place there is and even just being on the temple grounds bring me so much peace. I don't know how many times I have felt my Heavenly Father's presence so strong that it has brought tears to my eyes. The temple and this gospel will always hold a special place in my heart. It's the center of my crazy world and no matter how crazy it gets, the temple is always my safe haven. Even if it's just sitting in your car in front of it. Pondering on a decision or asking for comfort. We as members are so lucky to have this holy place at our fingertips. Non-members and less actives are so lucky to have the opportunity to be a part of it. Today, not only did I help dedicate this temple to our Heavenly Father but I re-dedicated my life to him as well.
